Every child deserves a champion- an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection and insists that they become the best that they can possibly be.

My name is Marian Aden, I am a fourth-grade teacher at a charter school in Minneapolis, MN. I have been teaching for seven years. My number one priority in my classroom is to help my students believe in themselves and their ability to learn and succeed. I strongly believe that each student is a unique individual who needs a safe, secure, and stimulating environment in which to grow and mature intellectually, physically, emotionally, and socially. Therefore, it has been my number one priority as an educator to figure out ways to help my students face challenges with strength and determination, rise up from failures, and to believe in their own potential.

For the last two years I have been very passionate about Positive Psychology.  Positive Psychology is the scientific study of human flourishing, and an applied approach to optimal functioning. It has also been defined as the study of the strengths and virtues that enable individuals, communities and organisations to thrive (Gable & Haidt, 2005, Sheldon & King, 2001). The summer of 2016 I attended  International Positive Education Network (IPEN) conference at Dallas, Texas. During the conference I was fortunate to meet Martin Saligman the founding father of Positive Psychology.  I recieved my Certificate in Applied Positive Psychology from the Flourishing Center.
